Supervisor 5-STEP
A mandatory requirement under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (O.Reg 297/13), all Managers and Supervisors in all Sectors, including security, must undergo
5-STEP Hazard Awareness Training, as soon as practicable, after being hired. This includes full-time, part-time, contract and seasonal staff.
Employers have a legal duty to ensure all Managers and Supervisors have successfully completed Hazard Awareness training prior to starting work and/or supervising Employees. This includes providing Proof of Training for clients and the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD).
As a vital part of an effective workplace Health and Safety program, Hazard Awareness training ensures all Managers and Supervisors know the risks and dangers associated with the job-tasks they are assigned to carry out and oversee. As well as, know their legal duties and responsibilities under the OHSA. An essential component of the Internal Responsibility System, Hazard Awareness training highlights the roles and responsibilities of all Employees in building and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.

Who Should Take This Course?
This is a mandatory course for all Managers and Supervisors in all Sectors. Upon successful completion of the
5-STEP Hazard Awareness program, participants will receive a wall certificate and wallet card. In addition, all students receive complimentary academic tracking and re-currency reminder service.
Prerequisites
There is no prerequisite for this training course.
Equipment Required
There is no training equipment required for this course. Participant training manuals and all required reading materials are included in the cost of the course. Mandatory student dress code is business casual.
Recurrency and Recertification
All certificates issued are valid for one year and must be renewed annually. Included as part of the Health and Safety program are complimentary academic tracking and a re-currency training reminder service.
